Thank you for your interest in Horizon Literary Magazine!​​​​​

Along with individual team expectations, each team member will have the responsibility of reviewing and voting on magazine submissions. If accepted to the staff, you will have the opportunity to remain on the staff for the following year.​

We require that all applicants be undergraduate students at the University of Iowa. ​​​​​At Horizon Magazine, our mission is to explore the dichotomy of new horizons. We seek to embrace both the beauty of the destination and the struggles of the journey to find hope.​ 

 

Horizon is focused on providing University of Iowa students the opportunity to gain experience and enhance professional workplace skills. While prior experience is allowed, Horizon gives preference when hiring staff members to students who have not held editorial positions on campus or greater publishing industry positions in the past. We are also committed to uplifting the voices of everybody--regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race or ethnicity--because we strongly believe that we, as a literary magazine, hold a great responsibility to platform a diverse range of perspectives, especially minority voices, on campus. ​
