Issue 1
Dear Reader,

Here we go: the first issue of Horizon magazine.

Despite being an aspiring writer, I don't have many words to say. Months into this process, I am still speechless that an idea I had one afternoon turned into a full literary magazine in one of the biggest literary universities in the Midwest.

Horizon was created amidst a pandemic, the end of an anxiety filled summer, and the gebinning of a worrisome junior year. While surrounded by hardships and chaos, I searched for a safe haven where I could enjoy inspiring stories of hope and optimism--something to look forward to when life calmed down.

When I did not find anything that suited my needs, I made it instead. I went out and carved a spot on campus for people to share their sugary-sweet pieces, their over-the-top cliches that would never happen in real life, their personal stories, inside jokes, and parts of them that light up the world.

So please, enjoy this slice of hope and optimism. May we have many more.
