Dear Reader,

Horizon's mission is to explore the beauty of hope and optimism, as well as the dark side of the journey to happiness. The magazine takes the form of a digital publication, released once a semester. Horizon is focused on providing University of Iowa students the opportunity to gain experience and enhance professional workplace skills. While prior experience is allowed, Horizon gives preference when hiring staff members to students who have not held editorial positions on campus or greater publishing industry positions in the past. We are also committed to uplifting the voices of everybody--regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race or ethnicity--because we strongly believe that we, as a literary magazine, hold a great responsibility to platform a diverse range of perspectives, especially minority voices, on campus.

Our very best,

the Horizon Team
